2/18/2024 0 Comments Longest yes typo![]() You seem to be stoked and motivated to improve your riding and so was my bud from the very early on. I have Mercury 2020 157 ~86 kg, 9,5 US), my bud owns Typo 2018 155 (he’s 70 kg, 9 US) so I can give you the insight into these, I haven’t been on the Mountain Twin. Would like to seek for advice on the feasibility and/or practicality on the above mentioned three boards, with the following questions:ġ) Is the YES Typo more forgiving board among the three with the 2mm raise nose and tail rocker? As the Flex people reviewed actually feels like 4-5/10 instead of YES Rated at 6.10.Ģ) Are there a lot of overlap between these three boards?ģ) Should I then purchase the YES Typo for better progression on board before moving to either the Mercury or Mountain Twin?Ĥa) If I should purchase the YES Typo, what size would be best? the 155 or 158?Ĥb) If I should NOT purchase the YES Typo, is it because of the overlap? And which board would be more forgiving to learn on and which to sell (Mercury or MT)? ![]() Boarded at Mount Hotham in icy Australia and did okay okay on Blue/Red equivalent-Intermediate runs except for flat cat tracks where i kept catching an edge.īoard used: Bought a second hand YES Basic (2011-2013 model) for a dirt cheap price instead of using rentals.ĭays Planned to ride yearly: On average 7-14 days / year My turns are skidded "S" shape turns with little to no carve lines mostly skidded and I can mostly able to control my speed if I feel it’s uncomfortable. ![]() Have attempted Blacks, but mostly 'C' turns on them. I know I might have jumped the gun and got too excited and hooked onto snowboarding that I bought boards that may be too advanced for me, please don't bash me for it as I know I might have screwed up thus seeking for advice here so as to not waste any money furtherĮxperience Level: Approximately 10 days of riding under belt - I can now link turns in both directions on green (beginner) and intermediate (blue/red) slopes. Thanks - sorry for the long post, but I thought it would give you enough info to help easier.Hi all the great snowboarders out there, I'm stuck in a limbo on three boards and would really appreciate your professional and experienced advices.:ġ) 157cm, 2021 Capita Mercury (Pre-Ordered, no option to cancel order) - S$805Ģ) 157cm, 2020 Jones Mountain Twin (On hand, won as a free gift) - S$Freeģ) 155cm, 2021 YES Typo (Thinking of buying) S$620 - 680 Which board for the lowest of Intermediate would be better? Would a softer cheaper binding like the Burton Freestyle make the 149cm work better for him? (I know it's a little Burton-centric, but he's ridden like 3 sizes of Burton Choppers and Burton kid/youth bindings, and 5 sizes of Burton kid boots, so we've started Burton-y.) In a pinch I could eat money, get the Instigator, and know I have to hand it down/sell it next year and then get the Typo when it fits him better. I have read a ton of reviews on both boards. Problem is the Typo only comes in a 149cm, so I'm concerned it might be too much of a next step if that extra length makes it too hard for him to turn at slow/medium speeds as he works on going a little quicker. It looks like the Yes Typo might be a nice board for progressing on without really outgrowing for what he likes, groomers, and maybe going through a few of the easy tree sections with tight slow turns, and small natural jumps (very small), and baby park stuff/tiny jumps Not crazy about the channel system since I was going with non-EST Medium Mission bindings. I was looking at the Burton Instigator in a 145cm, but I'm worried that the boot size could make this a "one and done" board. We had to miss last ski season with a broken wrist, and the covid restrictions, so he outgrew his last setup and is down a year. had to return size 8 Burton Moto boot, will try a 9 and an 8.5 this week. 15 years old, fit runner, surfs, small kid 5'5, 104 lbs. Has an Okemo trip planned at the end of this winter, will hit JFBB/Shawnee on some weekends before then. Not a daredevil super aggressive kid, but athletic and loves riding the groomers. Has ridden different sizes of Burton Choppers all along, with from boots. Working on going faster, to at least keep up with intermediate ski family and friends. Has done lessons to start off the season each year. Slidey turns on the steeper PA blacks, fine on the rest. Can do the blues at Okemo and the easiest "blacks" in PA. Likes to cruise the groomers, no park, other than the beginner wide boxes, and small/tiny jumps. Gets about 6-10 days a season, almost exclusively PA most years. 6 years snowboarding in PA (JFBB, Blue) 1 trip to VT in year 3.
